THEREFORE, my updated conclusion is that while this sunscreen is still excellent, if you want to be careful you would use another sunscreen for your face and use this for on your body since it's so damn cheap. So this sunscreen protects against UVB and UVA2 rays, but not UVA1 rays. For comparison, my Neutrogena Baby 60+ has 4.9% (therefore the white cast?)Īlso, Titanium Dioxide does not protect against UVA1 rays, only UVA2 rays (Zinc Oxide protects against UVA1). This Equate sunscreen is great for the price, but it has very low level of Titanium Dioxide (2.4%), which is on the lower side for UVA protection.

UPDATE Since this post has gotten so much attention, I'd like to point out what a couple of others has pointed out to me. It felt and looked like I just applied normal lotion on my skin.Īs it says, no fragrance and hypoallergenic.

There was a sheen and white cast at first, but to my great surprise it soaked right in within about 10 minutes and my skin went back to its original shade! And absolutely NO stinging at all around my eyes even though I probably gotten some sunscreen in there from the way I applied it.Ībout 30 minutes after, I couldn't tell I had sunscreen on. Most sunscreens sting if you get it anywhere near the eyes, which doesn't make sense for me to leave your eye areas exposed and unprotected. I slathered it all over my face, including the eyes areas (I just closed my eyes and wiped it all over).

I applied about a nickel size amount (that's a lot!) just for the face. I tried it on my face on the weekends just to see what it looked like. Then this Equate sunscreen enters the picture. (I had an Aveeno sunscreen that was horrific about the white cast). They worked well, especially the AgeShield and Ultra Sheer, but most left still a bit of a white cast/ghosty appearance that made it necessary to keep looking. (I haven't ventured into Asian stuff yet). I've also tried a bunch of Aveeno, Palmers, Banana Boat, and a few other store brands. It was dirt cheap at around $5 after tax for 8oz.įor a while now, I've been using Neutrogena sunscreens, tried their AgeShield SPF110 (2/5 white cast), Ultra Sheer 70 (2/5), and Baby 60+ (3.5-4/5).

Yes, that sounds hard to believe but I recently picked up the Equate KIDS Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50, just planning to use it on my body. Hey guys, I'm pumped AF to announce that I've found a little gem hidden in the aisles at Walmart. Posts without a valid tag will be removed by Automoderator.
